El Faro (Haight St)
1654 Haight Street, San Francisco, CA 94117
El Faro on Haight Street is a hidden gem and local favorite in the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood. The restaurant offers traditional, inviting taquería decor with a pleasant staff that is always ready to fix any meal quickly and cooked to order.
In addition to its jumbo burritos that are made with your choice of meat and vegetarian options, El Faro's menu includes tasty tacos, nachos, quesadillas and Mexican dinner plates, as well as unique dishes such as the Mex-Philly Burrito, a tasty Mexican spin on a Philly cheese steak sandwich. El Faro Haight St. is the latest in a long line of El Faro restaurants that have been a part of San Francisco cuisine for over 50 years and is owned by the self-proclaimed creator of the original "Super Burrito," a traditional burrito with added rice, sour cream and guacamole that will satisfy even the hungriest of patrons.
I vacationed in San Francisco last month, and after a day of sightseeing, I was looking for a quiet restaurant in the Haight-Ashbury area for a quick dinner. Not only did El Faro have my food ready in less than twenty minutes, but it was so good! I will definitely go back next time.
I have always passed by this place since I moved to the area, but I finally decided to stop by and try their food. The burritos tasted like they were made with fresh ingredients, and they were ready within minutes of placing my order. Everyone who worked there was extremely helpful. I give El Faro two thumbs up!
My girlfriend and I love Mexican food and have tried several different restaurants in the city, but we keep coming back to El Faro. The food is surprisingly inexpensive for the amount you get with each dish. I love their nachos, and my girlfriend is a big fan of the zucchini burrito (she is a vegetarian).
Where should I start? Their taco salad is to die for. I love the Pollo Asado which is grilled chicken with beans, rice rice, beans, guacamole, sour cream and pico de gallo. Everything at El Faro is fabulous!
